Gaming GuruHeard it on the River: Horseshoe Casino hosting $7 million blackjack lottery15 February 2011By Rudi Schiffer
Here is my take on making it understandable so anybody who has ever played any blackjack, or not, will want to get into this event with has a staggering payoff, Horseshoe style. On Feb. 26 a drawing will determine seven lucky players who get to face off against a dealer, each having a chance to win up to $1million cash. The playoff is one hand only per player. Beat the dealer and fly home on your emotions. That is heavy duty for this market at this time. If you can count to 21, why wouldn't you want to be in this event? You are crazy if you pass it by as it has nothing to do with the skill required to win a blackjack tournament, it's just a lottery and your changes of getting on the final table are based on how many entries you have in the computer. You have to gain entries, the more the better, which means playing more than usual if you want a better chance. You swipe your TOTAL REWARDS card at the promotional kiosks and receive additional entries based on play. That means you have to check in with the pit boss when you sit down, tell him or her to track your play as my experience tells me this does not always happen as they get busy, lazy or just forget you. They will track your time of play and how much your average bet is and enter it into the computer. There are a also a bunch of days when you can earn additional entries and those are good days to play on, mostly Mondays and Saturdays. I am not going to bore you with the details but check them at the Horseshoe Total Rewards Center as you can get up to ten times entries on certain dates. On the 26th, when the dust has settled, there will be three drawings to determine the seven finalists who automatically win $10,000 cash and a shot at beating the dealer for up to a million simoleons. Payouts are differing amounts and depend the hand the player gets. Holy Moly, where is my Total Rewards Card. GOLDSTRIKE has completed its multi-year, multi-million property makeover and the results make a dramatic appearance for the 50,000 square-foot casino floor and Stage 2 Bar. The project began four years ago and covered rooms, the convention center, Atrium Café, Courtyard Buffet and hotel lobby, with work in the gaming pit the final phase. A complete story and photographs can be seen on page 00 of this issue of Jackpot. Are you a Grizzlie fan? You are invited to get up close and personal with the the NBA team on Feb. 12 at GoldStrike for the Second Annual Grizz Gala with all proceeds benefiting the Memphis Grizzlies House at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Take part in interactive games with the players and join in the silent auction. Doors open at 6 p.m. Call 901-205-1206. LAISSEZ LE BON TEMPS ROULER!
