Gambling Just Got Better At The Fitz

24 April 2006

It didn't take long for Fitzgerald's new director of marketing, Glenn Buxton, to inject his heavy casino marketing experience into the highly competitive Tunica casino jurisdiction once again, and with the new General Manager, Bob McQueen, now reigning in the Castle by the Mississippi, approval was swift in coming.

The new print, outboard and direct mail campaign is based on a new buzz line…"Gambling Just Got Better" (at the Fitz). This slogan will be seen on a bevy of billboards that skirt Highway 61 like a line of the ubiquitous Burma Shave signs of olden days and their strategic cluster will be hard to ignore, coming or going to Tunica. Buttressing the large billboards will be a full page, four color 'cornucopia" ad that lists just about everything that is taking place at the Fitz. Direct mail pieces are already in the mail to pinpoint the large database of customers in their homes and other addresses.

A large part of the promotion menu is aimed at slot and video players but other areas such as full pay single deck blackjack, 20x odds on craps, special events, and more to come, are part of the marketing mix, according to Buxton. Another not so obvious but important piece of the change taking place is that "Fitz" is the new marketing moniker for Fitzgeralds Casino Hotel Tunica – "Gambling just got better!"

"This is a sea of change for this property," said McQueen." This property has tremendous potential and this initial campaign is a media barrage that cannot be ignored. The sleeping giant in this Castle has awoken."

Not that the giant has been really sleeping as Fitz' has always been a casino with a strong and loyal following of slot players but the property is seeking new levels of players with the new attractions it now offers.

"We have to make our mark and this approach that will unfold over the next few weeks will stake out a new position in the market place for the Fitz,' said Buxton. "It is a pretty intense campaign with a lot of items on the menu."

Some items on the "new" menu include:
