$300K Blackjack Events Hit Tunica

4 November 2004

Tunica Resorts becomes the blackjack capitol of America with two very large tournaments that offer $300,000 in prize money between them in the next couple of weeks. With the proximity of the tournaments at Grand and Gold Strike, they are expected to lure tour players from around the country to play in both.

Play kicks off this weekend (Nov. 12-14) at Grand Casino with $60,000 offered up as the first place prize. Second place pays $25,000 in the Big Bucks Tournament with third coming in at $15,000. Other final table payoffs include $10,000 for fourth, $7,000 for fifth, $5,000 sixth and $2,500 for seventh. Finishers 8 through 30 collect $500 each.

"Our final blackjack tournament of the year is poised to be our largest yet," said Brad Rhines, VP of Marketing and Player Development. "Our hosts have really stirred excitement in the players with the $60k guaranteed first place prize."

For the $1,000 buy-in, players receive two-nights hotel accommodations, a tournament gift and a welcome reception in the Gold Card Lounge on Friday, Nov. 12. There is a $250 re-buy after the second round. There is still time to enter by calling VIP Services at 1-800-550-4473 and use the code "150KBJ."

GOLDSTRIKE $150K NOV. 19-21

Some interesting angles give the Gold Strike tournament a different look this time around. In addition to the standard payoffs, session top finishers will be paid and the top qualifiers receive $5,000. A total of $16,500 is set for 2 session winners five deep. There is also a $2,500 prize for the re-buy session winner.

"We wanted to make this an event that players would really like, thus the new payoffs,"said Nancy Darcy, Director of Player Development. "The new arrangement offers more prize money for more players."

After the $50,000 guaranteed first place money, Gold Strike pays off $15,000 for second, $10,000 for third, $7,500 for fourth, $4,000 for fifth, $2,500 for sixth and $1,500 for the seventh spot on the final table. Finishers 8th through 50th receive $500 each. There is also an optional re-buy for $250 after the second session. All prize monies are guaranteed.

For a $500 entry fee, players receive a welcome reception, a tournament gift and accommodations for two nights. To enter call 1-800 24K-PLAY.
